Repertoire
Paths, not prescriptions—pieces chosen so adults finish music they enjoy while building reliable technique.
Choosing what to play
Repertoire at Bowline Strings is negotiated in the first two lessons. We listen to what you already love, what your hands can currently support, and what you need for an ensemble or personal milestone. The goal is a finished piece every few months—not a folder of abandoned openings.
Adult violinists often thrive on Bach minuets and simple concertos that teach string crossings cleanly, then move into Mozart or early Beethoven sonata movements when shifting is stable. Film and folk arrangements are welcome when they serve tone and rhythm; we treat them with the same technical seriousness as conservatory lists.
Violists frequently need alto-clef fluency before jumping into Romantic solos. We pair reading drills with slow Bach transcriptions and carefully chosen orchestra excerpts. Cellists work from first-position melodies into thumb-position introductions only when the left hand is free of gripping.

Editions matter less than clarity of marking. Bring what you own; if a urtext or student edition would save practice time, we will say so before you order. Photocopy habits should follow Kuwait copyright rules—we discuss legal copies when needed.
